KHTA ANNUAL HIKING TRAIL DESIGN WORKSHOP
When: April 7-8, Sat & Sun
Where: Brown County State Park, Nashville, IN
Activities Building near Campground
Sat: Lecture and practice on trail #4, 9 am – 4 pm
principles: morning presentation, review on trail; afternoon: apply on trail maintenance/update problem.
Sun: Certificate Trail Design, Building Experience on trail #5, 10 am – 3 pm
practical experience: devise trail reroute layout, mark, build (required for certificate).
Presenter: Suzanne Mittenthal, Founder of the Hoosier Hikers Council & Knobstone Hiking Trail Association.
Directed rehabilitation and expansion of hiking trails at BCSP 2003 – 2008,
and trails at Morgan-Monroe/Yellowwood State Forests including the Tecumseh Trail, 1996 – 2001
Subjects: Learn the trail sustainability design principles behind trail layout, construction and maintenance work.
Appropriate for volunteer trail adopters/maintainers, and forest and park staff managing public of private hiking trails needing upgrading, rehabilitation or relocation.
